Memphis Grizzlies' Ja Morant gives a positive update after leaving the game against the Mavs due to injury

Ja Morant limped off the floor early in the third quarter of the Memphis Grizzlies' game against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, sparking a collective shock among the fan base.

Morant injured his ankle after rolling over in the second quarter trying to come back and play. According to multiple reports, early indications are that his absence was precautionary.

“I’m good, it’s preseason, man,” Morant told reporters in Dallas.

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins classified Morant's departure from the game as a precautionary measure. Morant is expected to be reevaluated when the team returns to Memphis.

The Grizzlies' next preseason game is at home against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT. The regular season doesn't begin until October 23rd against the Jazz in Utah.

Morant doesn't seem too worried at all, but the next step will be determining how much time, if any, the two-time All-Star might miss.

The Grizzlies are already without an expected starter in Jaren Jackson Jr., who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Aside from limited preseason reps with the full starting lineup, Morant or Jackson's injuries don't appear to be a concern heading into the regular season.
