Malik Nabers scores two touchdowns, Giants beat Browns 21-15

After a dominant first half, the Giants left the Browns hanging in the final 30 minutes.

But Cleveland was unable to capitalize on its numerous opportunities and New York left the field with a 21-15 victory.

While the Browns quickly took a 7-0 lead with a 24-yard touchdown after a Giants fumble on the opening kickoff, Cleveland's offense was unable to do anything until the start of the fourth quarter.

New York dominated the rest of the first half. Devin Singletary capped a 13-yard run with a 1-yard touchdown, then Malik Nabers caught two touchdowns to give the Giants a 21-7 lead at halftime.

Nabers was the youngest player in league history to score multiple touchdowns in a game.

Daniel Jones had only two incomplete passes in the first half.

In the second half, however, the tide turned: the Giants dropped the ball, punted five times and missed a field goal, keeping the Browns in the game.

However, Cleveland was unable to score until early in the fourth quarter after the team got the ball in New York territory. Amari Cooper caught a 6-yard touchdown and head coach Kevin Stefanski passed the proverbial down-eight test and scored two. The team managed the conversion with a pass from Deshaun Watson to Jerry Jeudy.

Trailing by six points, the Browns had three more chances to take the lead. The offense moved the ball, but a fumble between Watson and Jerome Ford ended the threat.

Cleveland then lost the ball twice. First, Watson tried to throw on fourth and one, but the play was covered and he couldn't fight for the yard. Then, on fourth and fifth, Watson hit Cedric Tillman between the two yards, but the receiver couldn't catch the ball.

With the Browns out of timeouts, Singletary ran 43 yards to the 1-yard line to end the game.

Jones finished the game completing 24 of 34 passes for 236 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Nabers caught eight passes on 12 attempts for 78 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Watson completed 21 of 37 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 26 yards on four carries. Cooper finished the game with seven catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

Cleveland's offensive line was affected by several injuries. Wyatt Teller was out with a knee injury, James Hudson with a shoulder injury and Jed Wills with a knee injury. The team eventually moved Joel Bitonio from left guard to left tackle. Nick Harris moved to center and Ethan Pocic moved from center to left guard.

Defensive end Myles Garrett also played only limited hours due to his foot injury, but was able to play most of the game.

For the Giants, receiver Darius Slayton was out with a thumb injury and linebacker Micah McFadden suffered a back injury.

New York has a quick turnaround ahead of it in Week 4 as the club hosts Dallas for football on Thursday night.

Cleveland will play away against the Raiders in Las Vegas.
