The GOP will win control of the Senate, CNN predicts – a significant victory for Republicans, who have not had the majority in the Senate since 2021.

The Democrats' previous majority in the Senate already appeared precarious with just a razor-thin margin – and Republican victory was assured after GOP candidates flipped Senate seats in both Ohio and West Virginia.

In addition, Republicans are still defending a narrow majority in the House of Representatives, and it could take a week or longer before the results are officially finalized.

Senate race: Sen. Deb Fischer of Nebraska and Rep. John Curtis of Utah, both Republicans, will win their Senate races, CNN predicts. Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar was re-elected in Minnesota.

House race: Republicans will flip three House seats in North Carolina, with CNN predicting wins for GOP candidates Brad Knott, Tim Moore and Addison McDowell.

California Democrats Laura Friedman and Luz Rivas, Republican Tony Wied of Wisconsin and Democrat Kelly Morrison of Minnesota will also win their congressional elections, according to CNN projects.

Governor's race: Democrat Bob Ferguson will be Washington's next governor, CNN predicts. Meanwhile, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox won re-election, becoming the sixth consecutive Republican to serve as governor of the state.

Ballot measures: According to CNN projects, voters in Colorado and Arizona will support measures to enshrine abortion rights in their state constitutions.

In Colorado, the procedure remains legal without pregnancy restrictions, but the planned approval of the change means public funds can be used for abortions. Meanwhile, the proposed approval in Arizona expands access to the procedure in the state, which currently bans abortions at 15 weeks of pregnancy. Now it's allowed “until fetal viability” – doctors believe she's around 22 to 24 weeks.

According to CNN projects, eight states will also ban non-citizens from voting – even though this is already illegal in federal elections.
