Indiana voters go to the polls on Nov. 5 to cast their ballots in the presidential election and multiple rounds of voting.

The state has 11 Electoral College votes. Polls close at 6:00 p.m. ET across most of the state, except for the small portions of the state that follow central time, where polls close at 6:00 p.m. CT, 7:00 p.m. ET.

State significance

Before deep red Indiana voted for President Barack Obama in his overwhelming victory in 2008, it had last turned blue for Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.

In the state's closest race, incumbent Democratic Rep. Frank Mrvan is running against Republican challenger Randell Niemeyer in the 1st Congressional District.

Other notable races include Republican Sen. Mike Braun's bid for the governor's mansion against Jennifer McCormick, the state's former superintendent of public instruction and the Democratic nominee.

Republican Rep. Jim Banks is running against Democratic candidate Valerie McCray to fill Braun's Senate seat.

Counties are colored red or blue when the percentage of expected votes reaches a set threshold. This threshold varies by state and is based on past voting reporting patterns and expectations about how voting will occur this year.
