Basketball superstar LeBron James endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid on Thursday night, stressing that “the decision is clear” just days before Election Day.

The Los Angeles Lakers player shared a video containing clips of offensive remarks made by former President Donald Trump and said in a post on the choice is clear to me. VOTE FOR KAMALA HARRIS!!!”

The video included snippets of Trump's derogatory rhetoric over the years, including the former president warning that the country would end up “like Detroit” if Harris was elected and saying that undocumented immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.” . The video ended with the written words: “Hate brings us back.”

James' post marks the latest high-profile endorsement from Harris, who has received endorsements from Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among others.

James has previously supported Democratic candidates, including Hillary Clinton in 2016, and was an outspoken critic of Trump during his time in office.

James famously called the then-president a “bum” for barring fellow Golden State Warriors basketball player Stephen Curry from a visit to the White House. In 2020, he also brushed off Trump's criticism of athletes kneeling during the national anthem before games following the killing of George Floyd. Instead, he urged voters at the time to “look at the leadership we have at the top of our country” and urged them to go to the polls.

James was also actively involved in the last presidential election and, along with other athletes, founded More Than A Vote – a voting rights organization focused on combating voter suppression. The organization then recruited several thousand poll workers in predominantly black precincts and helped Floridians struggling to pay outstanding fees and fines related to their felony convictions so they could register to vote.

After President Joe Biden's 2020 victory, which James celebrated, his organization focused on the wave of Republican Party-led bills aimed at restricting voter access and launched a campaign to turn out Black voters in elections outside the United States to mobilize annually and in local elections.

Ahead of Election Day, the Harris and Trump campaigns are leveraging celebrity star power. Retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre campaigned with Trump in Wisconsin on Wednesday, while the vice president's Friday rally in Milwaukee will feature rappers Cardi B, GloRilla and Flo Milli.
