LeBron James criticizes Browns fans for celebrating Deshaun Watson's injury

When the Cleveland Browns traded three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Deshaun Watson two years ago, it seemed like they were putting their sad past behind them. But others felt that things wouldn't work out so well for the franchise, which always seemed to have been unlucky.

Watson has played poorly since arriving in Northeast Ohio and some have called for him to be benched this season. He suffered what was believed to be a torn Achilles tendon on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, and Browns fans in attendance at the game began cheering, with some even chanting, “You deserve it.”

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, a Northeast Ohio native and still supporting the Browns, took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Cleveland sports fans for reacting with joy to Watson's injury.

“Cleveland fans!” James wrote. “You all know how much we have been through over the years, both good and bad and indifferent. Besides, it is LAHM (expletive) to boo anyone who is down due to an injury, let alone your own player!!”

It is certainly wrong to celebrate because a player has suffered a serious injury, let alone a player from a team you support. Regardless, James' beloved Browns are certainly in an unenviable position, as they have a quarterback who has played poorly and will now be out for the duration after giving him a five-year, $230 million contract.
