Lamar Jackson: Mark Andrews is a team player right now

Lamar Jackson: Mark Andrews is a team player right now

The Ravens have won their last two games with a strong ground attack. One of the consequences of this, however, was that there were no targets for one of Baltimore's most important offensive weapons.

Tight end Mark Andrews hasn't had a reception since Week 2, receiving just one reception in each of the win over the Cowboys and the win over the Bills. In four games, Andrews has only six catches for 65 yards. His 1.5 receptions per game on the season is a far cry from his career average of 4.3.

On Wednesday, quarterback Lamar Jackson said Andrews is currently fulfilling his role on offense.

“Sometimes you might not get the ball, but we have all these great guys on our offense that help us win games, including Mark,” Jackson said in his press conference. “Mark plays a big role for us just doing what he does — blocking, running routes, getting guys out of the way and making sure other guys are open. He’s just a team player right now.”

Andrews hasn't seen the ball much, but that's been the case for most Ravens receivers over the last two weeks. Jackson had 15 pass attempts against Dallas and 18 against Buffalo. Tight end Isaiah Probably hasn't caught many passes either, making just two receptions for 30 yards in the last two contests.

As long as the Ravens continue to rely on Derrick Henry and the running game, Andrews' role in the offense as a receiver may continue to be limited.
