Key Stats: Texas A&M Aggies 26, Bowling Green Falcons 20

Now, I'm not going to tell you to be excited after A&M seemingly sleepwalked its way to a 26-20 victory over a G5 opponent at Kyle Field, but any win is better than a loss, and one has to hope the team can return to form when it resumes SEC play next Saturday.

Let’s take a look at some meaningful statistics from last night’s game.

Key statistics

#0: Harold Fannin. Two weeks ago he made Penn State's defenders look ridiculous and did the same at A&M, receiving eight balls for 145 yards and a touchdown. The only consolation is that the guy will probably play on Sundays next season.

2: Chunk plays/blundered coverages for Bowling Green that led to their only touchdowns. The long pass to Fannin and the Falcons' reverse run marred what was otherwise a pretty good performance by the Aggie defense. Aside from those two plays, the only points they allowed came from a questionable pass interference call and a blocked punt.

3: games in a row with an interception by Marcus Ratcliffe (and this should decided the game). Let's make it four next week!

5.6: Yards per carry for the Aggies. Bowling Green manned the box and stifled A&M's running game for most of the first half. But Marcel Reed's mobility continued to help open gaps for the running backs in the second half, and the running game was a key part of what saved the win on a night when the Aggies' passing game often seemed to misfire.

6: Penalties. Although A&M made up some ground after the Florida game, they were still assessed twice as many penalties as their opponent. That's not a recipe for success as the level of competition increases in the coming weeks.

55.2%: Marcel Reed's completion percentage. Reed's accuracy left a lot to be desired on Saturday and seemed to cost the Aggies several potential big plays throughout the evening that could have put a close game even more out of reach. If Florida's performance put him in the conversation for the starting spot, his play against Bowling Green may have dashed that prospect for the moment.

89: rushing yards for Bowling Green. That's especially encouraging considering 40 of those yards came on that one reverse run for a TD. Aside from that one play, A&M held the Falcons to a measly 2.2 yards per carry.

100%: Randy Bond's scoring rate. Yes, I know one of those was VERY close to missing, but in a game where we needed every one of those scoring chances, it was nice to see him get back on form after missing two kicks late in the Florida win.

It's time to turn the tide and #BTHOarkansas
