Kamala Harris' final campaign speech at the site of the attack on the US Capitol on January 6th

Washington:

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will symbolically conclude her presidential campaign on Tuesday by delivering her “closing statement” at the same location in Washington DC where Republican Donald Trump incited a mob to attack the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 he claimed the election was stolen from him.

“We’re going to the Capitol,” he ordered his supporters.

“We won’t take it anymore, and that’s what this is about,” Trump addressed the crowd. “And to use a favorite term that you all actually made up: We will stop the theft. Today I'm just going to lay out some of the evidence that shows we won this election, by a landslide. That wasn't the case.” “A close election,” he had said.

January 6, 2021 was an ordeal that saw Trump face criminal charges for attempting to overturn the election results, while more than 1,500 people have since been charged over the occupation of the Capitol.

“And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you won’t have a country anymore,” Trump had incited his supporters. This came following legal challenges that failed after he found voter fraud. Although Trump's own Cabinet rejected his allegations, his views were upheld by his supporters.

He officially started this protest when he tweeted on December 19, 2020: “Big protest in DC on January 6th. Be there, it's going to be wild!” He hoped that Mike Pence, then vice president, would stand behind him and refuse to certify the election results: “Because if Mike Pence does the right thing, we win the election… He's got this absolute right to do it. “We are supposed to protect our country, support our country, support our constitution and protect our constitution.”

After the violent “protest” spiraled into a tailspin hours later, Trump tweeted: “These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously and viciously taken away by great patriots who have been badly and unfairly treated .” treated for so long.

Although Trump did not physically attend the protest, he watched it live on Fox News from the White House. Seven people died and 140 were injured in this protest, which Trump initiated.

During a rally in Ohio, Trump called the rioters “patriots” and claimed he would help them once he took office.

The decision to end the campaign at the same point is a strategic move by Harris that underscores her commitment to contrasting her vision for America with Trump's election lies.
