After just three episodes, it may be too early to officially crown ABC's High potential as the biggest new hit TV season fall 2024 So far, but Kaitlyn Olson's return to network television (after the Fan angry cancellation of The Mick) is absolutely convincing. Even the actress herself expressed surprise when she learned that the second episode achieved the statistics that I only wish for It's always sunny in Philadelphia could brag about it.

As audiences became more curious and interested in what happened to Morgan's husband years ago, Olson went for it Instagram to celebrate early success High potential has already earned it, and it's a testament to her ever-enjoyable talents. Reacting to the report that the second episode of the series attracted over 10.72 million viewers after the statistics were delayed for seven days, the actress and series producer shared the following news ahead of the release of the third episode:

Wow! Thank God there's a new episode tonight! Anyone out there watch the first two 11 million times!? (I just skimmed it…) See you tonight for the third episode!

In particular, the second episode, “Dancers in the Dark,” garnered a total of 3.68 million viewers on the night of September 24, but that number nearly tripled over the next six days. In its first week of release, the episode reached an audience of over 10.78 million people and also saw a seven-fold increase in the 18-49 demo rating, from 0.31 to 2.2. Accordingly THROverall, the total number of viewers is around 3.09 million.

Led by Amazing Spider-Man Helmer Marc Webb, this episode actually reached a larger audience than the premiere, which is not the most common episode on network television. The first episode initially attracted 3.59 million viewers (0.35/18-49 demo), with that number increasing to 9.75 million (2.12 demo) after seven days of streaming and DVR playback. With additional ABC repeats in the mix for the premiere, total viewership exceeds 17.79 million people.

Kaitlin Olson is getting some love from co-stars past and present

It wasn't just the actress' fans and followers who chimed in with congratulatory messages after she celebrated the dramedy's early success. A trio of hers It's always sunny in Philadelphia Co-stars, including her husband, shared the love, as did the High potential Star who portrays the impeccably named Walter Melon.

  • Mary Elizabeth Ellis: Kaitlin! πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

  • Rob McElhenney: 😳

  • Mary Lynn Rajskub: πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

  • Garret Dillahunt: Boss! πŸ”₯

Speaking of which…

I hope High Potential's ratings lead to a big increase in viewership because It's Always Sunny is a hit

The most High potential Viewers will hopefully also know Olson for her top-notch talents as Sweet Dee Reynolds It's always sunny (not to mention her recurring role in Max is an Emmy winner Hacks). It might be silly to compare the numbers between her new show and her FXX series, which holds the record as the longest-running live-action TV comedy – and occupies a spot on our list 100 Best Sitcoms of All Time – But I kind of love that Olson can be a small screen queen on both ends of the ratings spectrum.

Just for one meager However, consider these side by side It's always sunnyThe largest same-day audience appears to be the season three premiere, “The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby,” which aired in 2007. (Before shows relied so heavily on delayed ratings.) The Season 16 premiere, which aired in June 2023, was seen by around 305,000 people on the night it aired.

So when it comes to the numbers, it's clearly more of an apples-to-victims situation. But consider it High potentialWith the third episode (3.78 million / 0.34 demo), viewership increased again on the night of the night. It's entirely possible that Olson's TV popularity will encourage a larger audience to tune in It's always sunny in Philadelphia Season 17 starts in the TV program in 2025.

I don't expect it would happen per se, and it would be impossible to draw a direct line between the two statistics even if it did It's always sunny enjoyed increasing popularity. But I don't think it takes an unofficial detective like Morgan to put two and two together.

Keep spreading the message to stick High potentialThe numbers continue to climb higher as new episodes air on ABC Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. ET.
