Just when we thought the UNC football program's loss to JMU couldn't get any worse…

As if losing to a Group 5 team and allowing them to score 70 points wasn't bad enough, this fact will unfortunately make things even worse for the UNC football program.

As we've seen many times, larger programs pay schools to play games, usually outside of the league. We saw how this affected Notre Dame, who paid $1.4 million for Northern Illinois to beat them on their home court.

Well, if you laughed at the Fighting Irish (like I did), we get our karma.

North Carolina has agreed to pay James Madison $10,000 for each point scored. Since the Dukes scored 70 points, North Carolina must pay them $700,000 for the game.

When you have to pay the price for making a complete fool of yourself on your own court (while essentially encouraging your opponent to increase the score), it's even worse!

While it's not good news for anyone in the UNC football program, James Madison's coaching staff will benefit from the win. By defeating a Power 4 team (which North Carolina definitely didn't appear to be on Saturday, but technically is), head coach Bob Chesney will receive a $15,000 bonus, while each of JMU's assistant coaches, as well as the head strength coach, will earn an additional $2,500.

I mean, as embarrassing as it is for the loyal fans of the UNC football team, it's good for JMU because not only did they win the game and absolutely dominate a team they were considered underdogs against by 11 points, but it's also good for the coaches because they made some extra money in the process.

At least someone is happy after this terrible game.
