José Ramírez simply needs to be José Ramírez for the Guardians to have success in ALCS Game 3

José Ramírez simply needs to be José Ramírez for the Guardians to have success in ALCS Game 3

CLEVELAND, Ohio – José Ramírez looked more like the José Ramírez everyone expects Tuesday when he launched a solo home run to right field off Luke Weaver in his final at-bat at Yankee Stadium.

Cleveland fans are hoping this version of José Ramírez sticks around for a while.

The Guardians will rely on Ramírez, their six-time All-Star third baseman, to power an offense starved in critical situations when Game 3 of the American League Championship Series begins Thursday at Progressive Field against New York.

Manager Stephen Vogt said Ramírez was always up to the challenge.

“We talked about it all year,” Vogt said. “He is one of the best players in the league. If there's anyone I'm confident will be ready to go (in Game 3), it's Josey. He has been our best player all year and continues to be.”
