Even though the New York Yankees suffered a walk-off loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the 2024 World Series, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is still confident the team can win the Fall Classic.

“I think we’ve done that all year,” Chisholm said, according to Robert Sanchez of SNY (h/t Yahoo Sports). “I feel like nothing has changed between us in our clubhouse. We still feel like we have this in the bag. (It's) not cocky, but we're confident about going out and winning four games.”

The 26-year-old helped give the Yankees a one-run lead early in the 10th inning on Friday night, but Freddie Freeman hit a grand slam in the bottom of the frame to seal the victory.

Chisholm went 2-for-5 with three steals in Game 1 and took second and third base after a single in the 10th. He scored on a fielder's choice and brought New York close to a 1-0 lead in the series. Chisholm's three stolen bases were the most in franchise history during a single World Series game, via YES Network's Erica Block.

The Yankees have already shown in their current postseason series that they can bounce back from tough defeats, as they were defeated by the Cleveland Guardians in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series on a walk-off home run by Jhonkensy Noel.

In the end, New York defeated Cleveland in five games to win the team's first AL pennant since 2009.

Chisholm revealed that the Yankees' clubhouse was not depressed after their opening loss to the Dodgers.

“We’re enjoying the moment as much as they are,” Chisholm said, according to Sanchez. “After that loss, I didn’t feel like it was quiet in the clubhouse. We talked and said, 'Hey, that was a fun baseball game. Let's do it again tomorrow, but let's emerge victorious tomorrow.'” So it's amazing.

Although New York's optimistic approach will be necessary to turn the series around, the team still failed to capitalize on the opportunity to impress Los Angeles on the road.

The Yankees will try to tie the World Series in Game 2 on Saturday night.
