Jason Kelce appears to smash man's phone after using gay slur – NBC10 Philadelphia

Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce appeared to smash the phone of a man who was calling his brother Travis, a gay slur for dating star artist Taylor Swift.

Kelce, now a football analyst for ESPN, was attending the Penn State-Ohio State game on Saturday when videos of the incident began circulating on social media, which were reviewed by NBC News.

From multiple angles, Kelce could be seen walking through the crowd with a case of beer in his hand as a man in the background could be heard shouting in Kelce's direction before using the slur.

Kelce then appeared to turn around, grab the phone, throw it on the ground, pick it up off the ground and walk away. Another angle appeared to show the man chasing after Kelce and demanding the phone, after which words were exchanged.

The identity of the man – whether a student or a spectator – was not initially known.

ESPN had no comment when initially contacted by NBC10 Philadelphia.

Kelce is in his first season as an anchor at ESPN after a 13-year NFL career with Philadelphia, where he won a Super Bowl (LII, 2017 season) and was also named a seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time First Team All- Per.

His brother Travis still plays for the Kansas City Chiefs and is a three-time Super Bowl winner, most recently with the Lombardi Trophy last season.

Travis Kelce and Swift began dating in the summer of 2023 as rumors continued to swirl. Swift eventually began attending Chiefs home and away games, while Kelce attended several of the 14-time Grammy winner's concerts.
