Isaiah Bond injury: Pete Thamel shares latest update on Texas WR vs. Georgia

Texas Wide receivers Isaiah Bond will compete against Georgia on Saturday after missing most of last week's game with an ankle injury.

Bond was listed as questionable this week, but Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian shared promising news about the wideout on Wednesday. After being at full strength in practice on Friday, ESPN's Pete Thamel confirmed he will be back in the lineup for Saturday's blockbuster SEC matchup.

“He’s fed, fit and ready to go,” Thamel said on ESPN College GameDay. “He trained fully yesterday. He's obviously a speedster – the audience really wants him here. It will be interesting to watch Quinn Ewers in this game tonight. This is the second time he has struck back after this oblique injury. And when he came back against it Oklahomahe only averaged 5.2 yards per aerial attempt, they really didn't push the ball down the field.

“It will be interesting to have another week to get better if he is a little more aggressive against the Dawgs tonight.”

It seemed like he was leaning toward playing all week, as he improved to “likely” on Friday before Saturday's game.

Texas will be happy that Bond is ready to go Alabama Transfer is the team's leading wide receiver with 21 catches for 369 yards and three touchdowns this season.

At Georgia, they are concerned about the injury status of their standout offensive player – the offensive lineman Tate Ratledge

Ratledge suffered his injury in Week 3 against Kentucky and had surgery the following week since Georgia was bye. With a typical recovery period of about a month to six weeks, Ratledge is now at the end of his window to return to play in Week 8.

Head coach Kirby Smart provided an update on Ratledge's status following the Bulldogs' Week 7 win.

“He’s a lot closer.” Smart said. “He’s running. He runs on dry land and pushes. He has custom-made braces. We continue to hope that he gets better.”

Kickoff between Texas and Georgia is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET live on ABC.
