Is the accuracy of Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars, a cause for concern?

Is the accuracy of Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars, a cause for concern?

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of problems to solve at 0-2. The Jaguars defense needs to find a way to get off the field on third down and force more turnovers. The Jaguars offense needs to keep up attacks, lose the ball less, and score significantly more points.

Jacksonville's offense is, by many measures, one of the worst in the league.

There are many culprits for the Jaguars' offensive weaknesses. This season, however, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence's play seems to have slipped. It's been a long season, but through the first two games, Lawrence's completion percentage is the lowest of his career.

That's almost nine percent less than his previous career low graduation rate.

Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor says completion percentage doesn't always tell the whole story about a quarterback's accuracy. He noted that many things play into Lawrence's completion percentage this season and that not all of them are necessarily Lawrence's fault.

“I think sometimes completion percentage and accuracy can be different,” Taylor said. I think I get what you're saying. If you factor in drops and throwaways, it's going to look like you're not accurate, in quotes, but I don't know if that's necessarily the case.

“There were times when we missed some shots, whether it was because of timing, pressure, timing and running routes or because of the limited space on the field in the red zone. I think that plays a role as well.”

The Jaguars need to find a way to get Lawrence and the offense on track if they want to turn the season around. The Jags offense needs to protect Lawrence better and give him more time to throw. That will help Lawrence make better decisions and improve his low completion percentage in the first two games of the season.

Only if Lawrence improves his game and his supporting cast does their part will the Jaguars have a chance against the Bills on Monday night. The Jaguars will need to work hard as a team to avoid an 0-3 start and get the season back on track.

It will be up to Taylor to push the right buttons at the right time to secure an away win in Buffalo.
