The skies over Israel lit up with a haunting glow as Iran fired a massive barrage of at least 180 rockets late Tuesday evening, marking another dangerous chapter in the long-running conflict between the two nations. The attack comes amid a volatile situation in the Middle East that threatens to escalate into a full-scale regional war.

The United States reiterated its support for Israel and promised that Iran would face “severe consequences” for the missile attack. The international community also responded: the United Nations Security Council called an urgent meeting and the European Union called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent a major war.
