IMD issues a very heavy rain warning for Gujarat, parts of Maharashtra, Bengal for the weekend. Check the details

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on September 27 issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several states over the weekend, including Gujarat, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Konkan and central Goa -Maharashtra and Uttarakhand.

IMD also said that the withdrawal of monsoon has already started in some parts of the country this week.

According to the forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat on September 27. Isolated heavy rains are likely to occur in Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch on September 28.

Additionally, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat in the next three days, isolated to moderate light to moderate rainfall is expected over the same region in the subsequent four days and isolated to moderate light rainfall is expected over Marathwada to moderate rainfall during the week.

With isolated heavy rains forecast in these regions, authorities are urging residents to remain cautious and prepared. The agency has also flagged a moderate flash flood risk for several watersheds, particularly in the South Gujarat region and coastal areas of Konkan and Goa.

The IMD forecast fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall over northeast India for the next seven days, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall over eastern India for the next two days and scattered to isolated light to moderate rainfall for the next five days.

According to the IMD, isolated heavy rains may occur over Bihar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on September 28 and October 2 and 3. The northeastern states of Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura will see similar conditions from September 28 to October 3.

The Meteorological Department has forecast scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rains for central India till September 30 and forecast scattered to scattered light to moderate rains over the same region for the following four days.

Isolated heavy rains are likely to occur over western Madhya Pradesh on September 27 and 28, it said.

According to the forecast, widespread to light to moderate rainfall will occur over Uttarakhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh in the next three days, while scattered to scattered rains will fall over the rest of the region in the following four days. According to the IMD, light to moderate rain may occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh during the next two days. The weather department has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rains over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh on September 27, eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 27 and 28 and isolated heavy rains over western Uttar Pradesh on September 27 and Uttarakhand on September 28 warned.

Meanwhile, it could strike over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on September 28 and 29, over Kerala and Mahe on September 28 and 30, in southern interior Karnataka on September 29 and on the coast of September 30 Karnataka is likely to experience isolated heavy rains, the weather department said.
