Hoda Kotb cries on “Today” as Jenna Fischer from “The Office” opens up about her cancer recovery

Hoda Kotb was a ray of hope for many people, including actress Jenna Fischer.

On Monday, October 21st, episode of TodayFischer, 50, shared how Kotb, 60, was a source of inspiration for her as she recovered from breast cancer. The starlet sported a pixie cut as she opened up about her recovery.

“I’m recovering after my surgery, you know. I looked at this Show today,” The office Actress explains. “I got out of bed and sat on the bench at the end of my bed with a cup of coffee and my big old pillow, and I watched you and Savannah (Guthrie) and Jenna (Bush Hager) and all that guys, and you kept me company.

The popular host smiled, placed her hand on her chest and wiped tears from her face as the sitcom star told her Kotb was the person she imagined telling about her cancer journey.

“I thought, if I ever get the chance to tell this story, I'd want to talk to you because I know right now there's a woman sitting with her pillow on a bench at the end of her bed, wondering what's next. ” Me?' and I just want to say, 'No, you're coming off the bench,'” he said Blades of Glory Actress explained.

“Just like this girl here!” the journalist chimed in, pointing at Fischer.

“Just like me!” Fischer exclaimed. “‘You will get your life back. You won't even believe all the beauty and wonder that awaits you on this journey.'”

Earlier this month, the Emmy-nominated actress announced via Instagram that she had been diagnosed with stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer in December 2023 – requiring her to undergo surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. She also revealed that she is cancer-free at the time of writing her post.

Kotb was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and subsequently underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She has been cancer-free ever since.

In September, the longtime morning show host announced she was leaving Today. Their official last day has not yet been determined, but will be sometime in early 2025.
