Heroes, zeros from Yankees win in ALDS Game 4: Gleyber Torres plays peacemaker

Heroes, zeroes and the entire infield from the Yankees' 3-1 series victory over the Royals in Game 4 of the ALDS on Thursday night in Kansas City, Missouri.

hero

Gerrit Cole returned to top form after a bumpy Game 1.

He allowed just one run over seven innings.

Zero

Just like 4-5-6. The Kansas City portion of the team – Salvador Perez, Yuli Gurriel and MJ Melendez – lost 11-0 overall.

Unsung hero

Not only did Gleyber Torres start the game with a double and score in the first, he also played peacemaker in the bottom of the sixth after the benches had cleared and the Yankees had a two-run lead.

Any potential ejection could have hurt the Yankees.

Key statistics

The last time the Yankees faced a team other than the Astros in the ALCS was 12 years ago, when they lost to the Tigers in 2012.

Detroit could be their opponent again if it beats Cleveland in the ALDS on Saturday.

Quote of the night

“It’s definitely going to be a fun time in New York”

– Aaron Judge due to the fact that the Yankees and Mets are in their respective league championship series.
