The curtain rises on another season of Only Murders in the Building, in which the mystery of Sazz's murder is solved, the murderer is found, and Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) meets the love of his life, Loretta Durkin (Meryl Streep). finds its happy ending.

But we all know there are no happy endings in the universe of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building, because just as Arconia's trio celebrates their latest achievement, they come face to face with another body.

In the final moments of the season four finale, Oliver, Mabel and Charles come across a bloodied Lester, the building's friendly bouncer, and make him the next season's victim. Meanwhile, at the beginning of the episode, a new character, Sofia Caccimelio (Téa Leoni), approaches the trio and asks them for help in connection with her husband's disappearance. She tells them that everything that happened to him “has everything to do with this building.”

With multiple mysteries to solve, here's what we know so far about Only Murders in the Building Season 5.

Will there be season 5 of Only Murders in the Building?

Yes. Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin announced on September 4 that Only Murders in the Building would return for a fifth season.

“We’re coming back for a fifth season,” Martin says in a video announcement.

“We hope you enjoy it,” Gomez adds.

Like all previous seasons, the new season will consist of 10 episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Is there a release date for Only Murders in the Building Season 5?

A release date for Only Murders in the Building has not yet been announced, but Gomez, Martin and Short talk about it in the video announcement.

“So when would that be?” Martin asks in the video.

“It would be 2025,” says Martin, and Gomez adds: “We don’t have the date. We have to shoot it.”

Previously, seasons 1, 3, and 4 premiered in August 2024, while season 2 dropped in June 2022. It is therefore possible that season 5 will also appear sometime in the summer.

Hulu has not yet announced the cast of “Only Murders in the Building” season 5.

However, it is likely that a majority of the main cast and other familiar faces will return. Previous cast members include:

The Season 4 finale also hinted at the introduction of a new cast member: “Madam President” star Téa Leoni, who made a brief appearance as Sofia Caccimelio.
