Social media users took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris after the Democratic candidate went to X to pledge millions of dollars in aid to Lebanon at the same time North Carolinians struggle to recover from Hurricane Helene.

“This must be a fake. Even Kamala Harris, the gold standard for stupidity, isn't stupid enough to post that,” actor James Woods said Saturday on This is simply unimaginable.”

The post came in response to Harris pledging on Saturday to send $157 million in “additional aid” to Lebanon, which she argued is “facing an increasingly dire humanitarian situation.”

“I am concerned about the safety and well-being of civilians suffering in Lebanon and will continue to work to meet the needs of all civilians there,” the vice president said, adding that the money would be used for “essential needs,” including “Food, shelter, water, shelter and sanitation to help those displaced by the recent conflict.”

Social media users were quick to criticize Harris for the post, arguing that many North Carolinians are struggling to recover from Hurricane Helene and that the money would be better spent on those relief efforts.

“Could that still be deaf? We have Americans who are suffering and in danger now after the hurricane and that is what Kamala needs to proclaim. America First!” Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-N.Y., said on X.

“Let me be clear: Kamala Harris' campaign suicide post tonight, focusing on LEBANON while rescue and recovery efforts are underway from a major disaster, is an admission that she is losing Michigan,” the said Journalist Eric Daugherty in an article.

“Kamala is promoting donations to the people of Lebanon — while fueling the humanitarian crisis in North Carolina,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said on X. “This is Kamala’s Katrina.”

The controversial tweet comes as the Biden administration continues to face backlash over its treatment of Helene. Former President Trump called the federal response to the disaster the “most incompetently managed federal 'storm' ever.”

“Kamala and Sleepy Joe generally get low marks for the way they handled the hurricane, particularly in North Carolina,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

The White House and the Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a Fox News Digital request for comment.
