Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris will hold an event in Ann Arbor on Monday alongside her vice presidential candidate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers, her campaign said Friday.

No further details were announced about the event, which comes eight days before the Nov. 5 presidential election that will be decided between Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump. But the decision to come to Ann Arbor — home of the University of Michigan — means Harris is trying to make a strong voice among younger, college-age voters. Rogers released a new album this year called “Don’t Forget Me.”

Harris has been spending a lot of time lately in Michigan, a key battleground state: She held three events last Friday before campaigning with rapper Lizzo in southeastern Michigan last Saturday. She was in Oakland County with Republican former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney earlier this week and was scheduled to campaign with former first lady Michelle Obama in Kalamazoo on Saturday.

Trump now also spends a lot of time in the state. He also had several events last Friday and was back this Friday to campaign in Traverse City. He was scheduled to hold an event in Novi on Saturday.

The Harris campaign has increasingly relied on entertainment personalities as part of its campaign. Rapper Eminem performed at a rally in Detroit this week with former President Barack Obama, and Harris hosted events with singers Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen in Georgia.
