“I welcome the OMCs' announcement of increasing the dealer commission payable to petrol pump dealers and the decision to streamline intra-state freight movement to help consumers in remote locations (far from OMCs' petrol and diesel depots), resulting in a “This will lead to a reduction in petrol and diesel prices in several parts of the country. (Decisions in poll-bound states and constituencies will be implemented later),” the Union minister wrote on X.

The Union Minister said, “On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras festival, a big gift from oil companies to petrol pump dealers is most welcome!”

“The demand that has existed for 7 years has been fulfilled! This reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to bring even far-flung areas at par with the rest of the country in terms of facilities for our citizens, such as the North East region, which has world-class road, air and rail infrastructure. ” he said.

Hardeep Singh Puri added that consumers will get better services but prices of petrol and diesel will not go up.

He said that this is also an important decision by oil majors to streamline inter-state freight movement to help consumers who are located in remote places far from the petrol and diesel depots of oil marketers, adding that thereby petrol and diesel would become cheaper for consumers in many places.

“For example, petrol price in Kunanpally and Kalimela in Odisha will decrease by Rs 4.69 and Rs 4.55 in Malkangiri; The price of diesel will be reduced by Rs 4.45 and Rs 4.32 respectively.

“Similarly, the price in Chhattisgarh's sukma will decrease by Rs 2.09 in petrol price and Rs 2.02 in diesel price,” the Union minister said.

He noted that the increase in dealer commission will improve service for about 7 million citizens “who visit our fuel retail outlets in the country every day without fuel price increases.”

The Union Minister said that fulfillment of this demand, which has been pending for seven years, will bring joy and happiness in the lives of petrol pump dealers and the nearly 1 lakh employees working at more than 83,000 petrol pumps across the country.

“The path for these historic decisions was paved by positive decisions taken by the Modi government and all petrol dealer associations, which came together at our meetings over the last few months and agreed to withdraw all pending litigation relating to issues related to the Marketing Discipline Guidelines (MDGs) “, said the Union Minister.

Earlier, Indian Oil Corp Ltd told This will not have any additional impact on the retail selling price of the products. This will further strengthen our shared determination to improve customer service standards and the welfare of staff working in retail stores.”

“Furthermore, our commitment to permanently provide affordable petrol and diesel across the country is a testament to Nation First’s core value and has borne fruit. #IndianOil has undertaken intra-state rationalization of freight which will reduce the fluctuation in retail selling price of products in different markets within a state, except in regions where a model code of conduct is in force. Happy festivities!” added the Indian oil. (Agency)
