The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets will play the third game of their wild-card series at American Family Field on Thursday at 6:08 p.m. CT with first pitch.

It is the only one of the four MLB wild card series to make it this far. The other three all ended in 2-0 victories, with the Tigers defeating the Astros, the Royals defeating the Orioles and the Padres taking care of the Braves.

The winner will travel to Philadelphia to face the Phillies on October 5th.

The wild card format introduced in 2022 was unfriendly to teams that lose the first game; The loser of Game 1 is now 0-11 pending the outcome of the Brewers-Mets series. Only one other series has even made it to the third and final game. The 2020 format, altered by the COVID-19 pandemic, featured eight first-round series in which two teams overcame a 1-0 deficit to advance.

Milwaukee forced a third and final game with a thrilling win on Wednesday that featured Jackson Chourio and Garrett Mitchell in the eighth inning for a 5-3 win.

Tobias Myers will pitch for Milwaukee while old nemesis Jose Quintana works for the Mets.
