Former British star announces plans to build state-of-the-art arena in Dominican Republic

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. (WAVE) – Former UK and current Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns announced a formal partnership with GO Ministries and World Youth Clubs to advance construction of a state-of-the-art basketball facility in the Dominican Republic.

The facility will provide “unprecedented training and recreational opportunities for young athletes throughout the region.”

Towns is Dominican American and has a deep connection to the Dominican Republic through his late mother Jacqueline, who was born there. Towns credits his efforts to give back to a country he considers a second home to this relationship built on his heritage and sense of community.

“I am excited to partner with GO Ministries/WYC to create a facility where children can play basketball and provide a platform to learn life skills, develop character and achieve their dreams,” said Towns. “The Dominican Republic has given me so much and this is my way of giving back.”
