Five things to know about new Chiefs edge rusher Joshua Uche

Five things to know about new Chiefs edge rusher Joshua Uche

The Kansas City Chiefs expanded their defense on Monday by acquiring edge rusher Joshua Uche in a trade with the New England Patriots.

Here are five things you should know about the newest member of the team.

1. Uche has 106 pressures and 16.5 sacks over the past three seasons.

The 26-year-old Uche has been a productive player in his young career, recording a total of 106 pressures, 23 quarterback hits and 16.5 sacks since 2022.

For comparison, his 13 pressures this season now rank fourth on the Chiefs, and last year his 37 pressures would also have ranked fourth on the team, behind only defensive lineman Chris Jones (75) and defensive end George Karlaftis (64) and defensive end Mike Danna (41).

2. He has a 17.2% pass rush win rate this season.

Uche has two sacks in seven games this year, but the traditional stats don't tell the whole story. In fact, his Pro Football Focus-calculated 17.2 percent pass-rush “win rate” with 90-plus pass-rushing snaps ranks 14th in the NFL among edge rushers.

He now immediately leads all Chiefs edge rushers in this category, and overall only Chris Jones (18.5%) has a higher “win rate” than Uche in Kansas City’s defense.
