Election Day is upon us, like a powder panda racing into the maze of Buttermilk. In the hope that we don't allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by infantile ways of thinking, I wish I had some secret star knowledge to share with you. I don't. I am not a predictive astrologer.

In stressful times like these, I wouldn't mind having these psychic abilities. Wouldn't it be nice to know in advance what will happen to our little airport and our next president? Then we could spend the next two days imagining what smooth buttery twists we will soon be baking at “Milk” instead.

On Election Day, the Moon will be in Capricorn, squaring the lunar nodes. Mars, new in Leo, opposes Pluto. There's a lot to eat here. Pluto is now ending its time in Capricorn. On November 19th it finally moves into Aquarius. Pluto encourages us, often forcefully, to confront our shadow beliefs. Capricorn is the sign of structure and foundation. Pluto, moving through Capricorn, has shone its light on the dark grooves at the bottom of our local ski resort – a reflection of our country's macrocosm. We believe the other side has been deceived and does not know what is really going on. With hatred for our neighbors and friends, we carve our way through the politically charged rubble field.

Will sanity return on Tuesday night or with Pluto entering Aquarius? I don't hold my hypoxic breath at high altitude.

The North and South Nodes represent our trajectory. They are the invisible lines where the orbits of the Sun and Moon intersect. Our solar system is moving northward; Therefore, these nodal axis points are believed to represent our destiny and where we are going in space.

The North Node is currently in Aries. Individualism and personal power are the goal and pull the South Node of Libra with them. Libra is concerned with personal relationships, so we move away from that. We see this expressed in the newspaper every day, with nasty letters and anger sprayed all over the city like stinking skunk spray. The Capricorn Moon squares these nodes on Tuesday, creating tension and momentum around the fundamental concepts of evil vs. nice, understanding vs. polarization.

All three of these signs: Aries, Libra, and Capricorn are known for their focus on “serving others.” They are community-oriented in their own unique way. We have clear choices in this election. From an anthropological perspective, it will be very interesting to see what direction we want to go as a valley and as a country. Are we evolving or are we declining? For me, the jury is still out.

Mars enters Leo today, Sunday, opposing Pluto. Our often overly heightened masculine energy enters fiery Leo, opposite our dark, shadowy underworld Pluto. Yikes! This feels like an intense lineup for Election Day.

Many astrologers say that this shift of Mars will bring relief as they say our divine male planet in Cancer is not lucky. I think this is patriarchal crap. Why don't our masculine sides thrive in the caring sign of Cancer? I think the world could use more of Mars being in Cancer and less in warlike Aries. Kind, caring and healthy fathers, unite!

Leo is another sign that has a bad reputation. Even astrology naysayers will still associate Leo with vanity, narcissism, and huge egos. This is so sad for our dynamic lionesses and lionesses out there. Luckily, Leo is the sign that teaches us to love ourselves and step into our heavenly nature. Do you remember the images of the ancient queen or king anointed by a god (or goddess) as his/her messengers here on earth? This is Leo, the mediator who connects the heavenly and physical worlds.

Leo learns to trust in his connection to spirit and to love himself, both of which come from knowing his own divinity. All the judgment and berating of ourselves would disappear. Leo is considered generous and generous. Once Leo fills himself with this heavenly love, he cannot resist overflowing and radiating out to others. Let's harness some of that generous love for one another as we head into the polls on Tuesday. Phew, this will be a big event that will make it clear where we stand together.

The dark side of the lion is expressed quite well in one of our presidential elections: big ego and narcissism. Mars' entry into Leo can happen in either direction. Are we entering a new age where we learn to connect more spiritually and show ourselves more love and care, or are we doubling down on the male self-centeredness that got us here in the first place?

Women – before you feel arrogant, realize that white women make up the largest voting bloc in the United States. Internalized sexism has contributed significantly to where we are now. Are you aware that the majority of white women voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and an even higher percentage voted for him the second time? We are busy propping up the patriarchy and our own demise.
