Emotional Van Jones breaks down over Trump's upcoming 'nightmare'

CNN commentator Van Jones launched into another emotional election night monologue as polls showed Donald Trump was likely to take the presidency, telling his fellow panelists that Wednesday marked a new day for certain groups targeted by the former president during his campaign will be terrible.

“They thought that tomorrow morning they would walk out with their shoulders a little bit back, maybe be able to breathe for the first time and feel like they belonged somewhere,” Jones said just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. “They did everything they could and it will be harder for them to hold their heads up tomorrow than it should be.”

Jones described the plight of Black women, undocumented immigrants and trans children across the U.S. and said these and other groups will face threats to their way of life under another Trump administration.

“It's easy to dismiss it: 'Oh, look at the elites, they're going to get their punishment,'” Jones said. “It is not the elite who will pay the price. These are people who woke up this morning with a dream and are going to bed with a nightmare, and these people do not deserve to be respected, held and spoken to. These are the people who will pay the price for whatever Donald Trump does.”

Jones' speech is one of many, often emotional, moments he has offered CNN viewers this election season. Wednesday's votes showed Trump was likely to comfortably defeat Kamala Harris in this year's presidential election.
