According to the BBC's US partner CBS, Elon Musk, the world's richest man, will spend election night with Donald Trump in Florida.

Mr. Musk, the owner of Tesla and X, has campaigned aggressively for the Republican candidate in swing states across the country.

Trump's campaign is hosting watch parties for thousands of supporters, including at his Mar-a-Lago home and the Palm Beach Convention Center.

Mr. Musk will attend the event at Mar-a Lago to watch the results along with Trump and other guests, he said on X/Twitter.

Trump said the campaign expected 4,000 to 5,000 people at the convention center Tuesday evening.

Mr Musk's Trump-supporting political action committee – America PAC – has already spent more than $119 million (£91.6 million) this election cycle.

He announced his support for the former president earlier this year, although in 2022 he said that “it's time for Trump to hang up his hat and sail off into the sunset.”

Elsewhere, Trump's former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon plans to hold an election watch party tonight at the Willard Hotel – the five-star Washington DC hotel that served as a “command center” for Trump loyalists overturning 2020 wanted election results.

Bannon was released from federal prison a week ago after spending four months behind bars for contempt of Congress.

Kamala Harris will spend election night at Howard Universityher alma mater and a historically black university in Washington DC.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill will join longtime advisers and senior White House aides in watching the election results at the White House.
