Elon Musk and Joe Rogan call “bananas” the death of freedom

Elon Musk and Joe Rogan have both cited the killing of their beloved pet P'nut the squirrel as proof that America is no longer the land of the free.

Musk even suggested that outrage over New York state's brutal response to the internet-famous rodent was reason enough to “mobilize” and “just go out and vote for P'nut.”

“How is it that we live in America, the supposed land of the free, and the government can break into your house with guns?” the world's richest man asked on Rogan's podcast on Monday.

“If you resist, you will be shot,” he said — whereas the government “can take your pets and execute them.”

“If they can do this to your pets, what do you think they can do to you?” Musk asks in the clip.

“The government comes into his house, takes his pets and kills them,” he said, asking: “How many cases have we not heard of?”

Rogan — who promoted the podcast by touting his support for former President Donald Trump — quickly agreed.

“This is not an exaggeration,” he said, emphasizing that it was not “crazy” to make “this connection” with a loss of freedom.

“Why would you kill this cute little squirrel that was obviously a pet and trained from a young age? When you see this guy's interaction with this squirrel, it was wonderful. It was really sweet,” Rogan said.

“What the hell is wrong with you, why are you killing that squirrel?” It doesn’t make any sense.”

The two then compared the viral squirrel's death to the plot of the “John Wick” films, noting that viewers are sympathetic to the titular character as he seeks revenge after his dog is killed.

Musk said the case was serious enough to influence voters on Election Day on Tuesday.

“I think this should really mobilize people out there,” Musk said. “I hope people just go out and vote for P'nut Man. If nothing else. Just vote.”

P'nut, a 7-year-old gray rescue squirrel, was euthanized alongside Fred the raccoon so the animals could be tested for rabies following a controversial Department of Environmental Protection raid on their upstate farm.

The farm is home to hundreds of rescued animals, including ducks, chickens, alpacas, sheep, donkeys, pigs and rabbits – but P'nut and Fred were their pets.

During the visit, the beloved squirrel apparently bit an investigator, requiring a rabies test.

The euthanasia of the rescued animals, which was popular on social media, sparked mass outrage online as a fundraiser called “Call For Justice for Peanut the Squirrel and NYSDEC Reform” raised nearly $200,000 on Tuesday morning.
