Marquette University basketball legend Dwyane Wade was honored with a statue by the Miami Heat over the weekend, and it was definitely… something.

Wade, of course, spent the majority of his Hall of Fame career with the Heat, winning three NBA titles. The bronze statue outside the Heat's home at the Kaseya Center was unveiled at a ceremony over the weekend with Wade in attendance.

It's meant to capture his “This is my house” gesture from a win against Chicago in 2009. The gesture seemed right. The face seemed to belong to someone else, perhaps.

“This is crazy. Who is this guy?” Wade asked with a smile as he addressed the crowd. And while viewers may wonder if he expressed more than just modest disbelief, it's worth noting that Wade was involved in the design process and seems more than happy with the design.

During the creation process, Wade made several trips to visit the sculptors in his hometown of Chicago.

“I just thought, 'This is beautiful,'” Wade told the Miami Herald. “I'm personally biased, I think it's one of the best statues ever created because of what it represents to us and to me.”

The statue was created by Rotblatt Amrany Studio sculptors Omri Amrany and Oscar León. It is the same studio that created statues dedicated to Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles.

Wade even chose the moment to highlight it. His double buzzer-beater in overtime against his hometown Chicago Bulls caused him to jump to the scorer's table and shout, “This is my house!” on March 9, 2009.

However, the internet had a lot of fun with Wade's unusual face, including an update to the iconic photo taken by Associated Press photographer Morry Gash at the Bradley Center against the Bucks.
