Duke's defense throttles Florida State on Friday, 23-16

As Duke moves to 1-22 all-time after years of frustration against Florida State, let's first admire Luke DeCock's edge in his article tonight, because you'll like:

Ha-Ha.

Haha haha haha haha.

(Take a deep breath.)

Who says sports journalism is dead? And who can object to that?

We'd like to add a little idea: Since FSU felt like they weren't getting their fair share of ACC revenue, maybe it's time to consider that they're now a liability to the conference, and maybe a little less should get. A 1-6 team, get an equal share?

Live up to your argument, loser.

Okay, now to the game.

Admittedly, this isn't Bobby Bowden's FSU, which simply slices you to death with precision strikes and poses unmolested on its way to the end zone. It's not even the declining Jimbo Fisher years or whoever who got fired before they hired Mike Norvell, who was at least good enough to be crazy about missing the playoffs last year.

Not this year.

Florida State is shockingly bad.

Duke's offense wasn't impressive – the Blue Devils only managed 180 yards of offense – but the defense was outstanding.

And Florida State helped. Duke forced four turnovers, but the 'Noles had nine turnovers. They managed just two third-down conversions and only 12 completions.

To our knowledge, FSU is the only D-1 team this year to turn the ball over on three consecutive possessions.

It's a train wreck and it couldn't have happened to a better team.

Okay, maybe UNC. But even the Tar Heels aren't that bad.

Back when Duke was really struggling, Bobby Bowden said, “I really feel sorry for Duke.”

Given the arrogance we've seen from the Seminoles lately, they probably won't get much sympathy.

The win also makes Duke bowl eligible, which is the earliest it has ever been as far as we can remember.
