Drag Queens Fight for “Freedom and Democracy” in DC High Heels Race

“We don’t need old white men in Congress telling women what they need, so…telling women what to do with their bodies. We support women and their own bodies and their own choices. One hundred percent. Go Kamala.” !”

“The freedom. We can't go back, as she says, we don't want the 'Orange Menace' ever getting licenses in court anywhere near Washington, DC. In order. We're done with that. We’re done.” with that.

“Every time LGBTQ people come together, it will be political and important for us to show our strength, our love, our joy. And that is particularly important this year. I think for a lot of people the trans community is under relentless attack from the rest. “And it's just shameful and sad, as much support as we can show as a community, it just means the world.”

Local drag queens and people in Halloween costumes attended the race on 17th Street in the US capital. Among the attendees was a group of people dressed as “childless cat ladies,” referencing comments made by Trump's 2021 vice presidential candidate JD Vance in which he said he didn't want the country to be dominated by “childless “Cat ladies” are ruled.

Other attendees wore colorful robes with banners reading “Inaugural Ball, President Kamala Harris, January 20, 2025” and wore a giant Harris camouflage hat costume.

According to the organizers, at least 150 people registered for the race, which was preceded by a costume competition and drag performances.
