Donte DiVincenzo had a heated exchange with the Knicks coaches during the preseason game

Donte DiVincenzo may have fond memories of his time with the New York Knicks, but the recent acquisition by the Minnesota Timberwolves doesn't appear to have the best of relationships with members of the Knicks' coaching staff.

During Sunday's preseason duel, DiVincenzo could be overheard talking back and forth with a member of New York's bench. Apparently it was head coach Tom Thibodeau he was insulting at the free throw line.

Before DiVincenzo attempted his shot from the charity jersey, he could be heard thanking Thibodeau for joining the Timberwolves.

“Thank you for the trade, Thibs. Thank you for the exchange. That’s what happens when they let you run the show,” DiVincenzo said.

The Knicks traded DiVincenzo and Julius Randle to Minnesota as part of a three-team trade that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to New York. This was their first meeting since the end of the offseason.

However, the verbal arguments did not end there. After the final whistle blew, DiVincenzo was seen engaging with Rick Brunson, the father of DiVincenzo's former Knicks and Villanova teammate Jalen Brunson.

What they said was not captured by cameras, although it is clear they exchanged no pleasantries.

Brunson could be seen walking up to DiVincenzo and saying something to him before the two were separated by players and coaches as they walked back and forth. DiVincenzo was then escorted toward the locker room by a trainer.

New York won the preseason duel 115:110. DiVincenzo played 27 minutes and scored 15 points with seven assists and three rebounds.

The two teams are expected to meet twice during the regular season, with the first of the two meetings scheduled for December 19th in Minnesota. They will see each other again in the new year on January 17th at Madison Square Garden.
