Does your Pixel run smoother after updating to Android 15? (Opinion poll)

Does your Pixel run smoother after updating to Android 15? (Opinion poll)

With Android 15 now rolling out to the Pixel 6, 7, 8 and 9 series, we're wondering if you'll notice smoother performance after the update.

The latest stable version of an Android update always has some limitations. For some reason, some people aren't seeing all of the features announced in this latest update on their phones, tablets, and foldable devices. It's not clear if this is due to device limitations, but the stable release removed a few things, including device diagnostics, adaptive timeout, and mobile network security settings.

From a user perspective, Android 15 isn't the biggest update we've received from Google. It includes a lot of little tweaks and optimizations under the hood, but the feature set is more refined than ever. Since Android 12, Google has continued to push forward with a major overhaul of Material You. If you were expecting big, sweeping changes, rightly or wrongly, this isn't the update you've been waiting for. If you want to learn more about the core system changes, you can find Google's developer-focused documentation here.

Highlights include the all-new Private Space, volume slider redesign, better display controls and vibration-based feedback, and even more privacy-focused controls to keep you safe when using a Pixel. Many features are just refinements to existing things in Android 14. Visually, you might not even notice a difference, since the “core” of Android 15 remains unchanged from a user perspective, but it's smoother and easier to tailor to specific controls.

While the Pixel series is known for smooth performance, Android 15 could help significantly with the recently released 9 series. For the first time, Google launched a smartphone without the latest operating system. We were therefore eagerly awaiting its release.

Are you seeing any performance-related improvements after installing the latest OTA? Does your device run smoother with Android 15? Several members of the team here at 9to5Google agree that the overall experience feels faster and smoother since downloading or sideloading the full Android 15 OTA.
