NEW YORK – Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman hit a home run in the first inning of Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night, breaking a World Series record with a home run for the sixth straight game.

The 35-year-old Freeman, whose injuries hampered him and limited him to singles in the first two rounds of the playoffs, has found his strength in the World Series. His final home run came on an 86-mph slider off New York Yankees right-hander Luis Gil, giving the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

According to ESPN Research, Freeman is the second player to hit a home run in four consecutive games of a single World Series and the first to hit a home run in each of the first four games. George Springer hit a home run in the final four games of the 2017 World Series against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles entered the game with a 3-0 series lead. Freeman is the overwhelming favorite to win the Series MVP award if the Dodgers can win their eighth championship.

Freeman hit two first-inning home runs in consecutive games, striking out Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt in Monday's 4-2 Game 3 win. His home run in Game 2 against New York left-hander Carlos Rodon was the team's third.

In Game 1, Freeman set the tone for the series with the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history.

The streak dates back to 2021, when Freeman played with the Atlanta Braves and they earned a World Series win against Houston. Freeman hit a home run in a loss in Game 5 before adding a solo shot in the seventh inning of the Braves' title win in Game 6 – his fifth of the series.

In the 10 games of his World Series career, Freeman hit .343/.385/.943 with six home runs and 14 RBIs.
