As Americans go to the polls Election Day 2024 To choose between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, voters should know the required ID they may need to provide to submit their application Ballot depending on the state in which they are registered.

According to the National State Conference of Legislatures, there are 36 states that require voters to show ID at the polls, either mandatory or upon request, and some that require photo documentation. The remaining 14 states and Washington, DC use other means to verify voter identities. In most cases, other identifying information provided at the polling place will be matched to the individual's records.
