Dave's Hot Chicken is honoring the rapper's birthday with free sliders

Get ready for a free chicken slider from a popular rapper.

On Thursday, star rapper Drake is celebrating his birthday by giving his customers a free Dave's Hot Chicken slider for the third year in a row.

The seven Dave's Hot Chicken locations in Metro Detroit and across the country are taking part in the offer, handing out a slider to customers on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. to celebrate the rapper's 38th birthday.

There is a limit of one slider per person, while supplies last.

Canadian rapper Drake invested in the Dave's Hot Chicken chain a few years ago.

“We love that Drake is celebrating his birthday with Dave’s guests,” Bill Phelps, CEO of Dave’s Hot Chicken, said in a press release. “As this brand expands from coast to coast and abroad, it is the authenticity of the food, the founders, team members and investors like Drake that ensure we continue to blow people away.”

Dave's Hot Chicken was founded more than half a dozen years ago as a pop-up by four best friends in an East Hollywood parking lot. Over the years, the chain has grown to more than 230 locations across the country.

The chain is known for only offering chicken tenders, chicken sliders and bites. The large chicken fillets are first marinated in brine, then breaded, deep-fried and seasoned. The chicken fillets receive a dollop of Dave's sauce and are offered with varying levels of seasoning. The spice levels range from “no spice” to “mild” to “extra hot” and “reaper”. The Reaper is the hottest and requires a signed waiver due to its heat level.

The menu includes individual dishes, but you can also order them with side dishes as a combination meal. Sides include seasoned fries, kale slaw, and macaroni and cheese.

Dave's Hot Chicken entered the Michigan market in October 2021, opening its first location on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.
