The Davante Adams era in Las Vegas appears to be nearing its end after an NFL Network report surfaced Tuesday that the three-time first-team All-Pro has told the Raiders he prefers to be subbed out become.

Of course, teams should be interested, and the Cleveland Browns could well be in the mix.

On Tuesday evening, Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com and the Cleveland Plain Dealer stated that “the Browns will likely inquire about Raiders receiver Davante Adams after he requests a trade.”

This news comes amid speculation that Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper could be made available as Cleveland struggles at 1-3 and appears unlikely to make a serious push for the playoffs. In fact, ESPN's Adam Schefter highlighted Cooper as a potential trade target for the Kansas City Chiefs (Ben Axelrod of h/t Awful Anncreasing).

Ultimately, the Browns don't appear to be the most likely destination for Adams given the team's record, his 2024 outlook and the money he's owed. Cabot wrote the following:

“Would it make sense for the Browns to sign Adams? They are 1-3 and will miss the playoffs if they don't turn things around quickly. As it stands, they'll probably have to go 9-4 the rest of the way for a legitimate shot. Would Adams be enough to get them back on track? He is owed $13.5 million of his salary and $17.5 million in bonuses this season and is under contract at $35.6 million next year and $36.6 million in 2026, but with no guaranteed money In these final two years, the Browns would have to renew the contract, and that would cost a significant amount, with Minnesota's Justin Jefferson leading the market at $35 million per year.

Adams is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, described as a week-to-week ailment. It's conceivable that his latest loss was with the Raiders, as the Nov. 5 trade deadline is still five weeks away. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, teams are already contacting him.

Sources: Teams have called this #Raiders today, and Las Vegas has also had discussions about a possible Davante Adams trade.
I was told that these were considered “routine checks” in an evolving situation. But that's usually how it all starts… https://t.co/gzftQ0EWeG

On the surface, there are some obvious fits for Adams.

The New York Jets would be celebrating a reunion with his former teammate in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers. The two enjoyed success in Green Bay and easily replicated that success in New York, where the offense has struggled for four games (21st in scoring).

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who negotiated a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for wideout Brandon Aiyuk before falling apart, could be another option. Pittsburgh is off to a 3-1 start and could use another wideout in George Pickens for a solid one-two punch there.

Logically, other teams could also be involved, such as the Washington Commanders (who are also off to a good 3-1 start and could be looking for another receiver alongside Terry McLaurin) and the Kansas City Chiefs (due to the injuries to Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown) .

It looks like Cleveland could at least go for Adams, even though the competition for him could be quite stiff and other teams appear to be offering better players at the moment.
