Dan Campbell knows how to give a speech in the Lions locker room

Dan Campbell knows how to give a speech in the Lions locker room

Man, Dan Campbell really knows how to cheer for the Detroit Lions.

After the team's Monday Night Football victory over the Seattle Seahawks (42-29), the head coach once again gave a memorable speech in the locker room that will leave anyone watching on their feet.

In the video posted to the Lions' social media accounts, Campbell, kneeling in starting position in the locker room, stands up and says, “Hey, man. It feels good to win again, doesn’t it?”

“In defense you come in and stay loyal to them. If you do it right, suddenly we're on top, like we want to start the game,” he said. “And it just went back and forth. It really did, man.”

“Offense, we need you. You’ve stepped up.”

Then Campbell singled out safety Kerby Joseph for the game-winning interception of Seattle quarterback Geno Smith in the end zone in the fourth quarter.

“When the defense needed it, we needed a stop,” Campbell said. “Kerb, you made a great play. Good teams complement each other, man.”

“I’m proud of you,” Campbell told the team in the locker room. “This is a good win. That’s a hell of a win.”

Campbell then talks about how the game plays out from game to game, one win at a time, with three players in hand.

“We’re back to three, man,” Campbell said. “And you don’t worry about what other people are doing. They don't look over. Who won how much? Who are they playing next?”

“Man, you just win the game that’s in front of you and then you just start setting them up and shutting them out the next game. That’s what you do,” he said. “This is a good win, gentlemen.”

Campbell handed out three game balls:

  • Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson
  • Wide receiver Jameson Williams
  • Safety Kerby Joseph

Of Joseph, Campbell said: “I mentioned it before, man. You're talking about finishing a game, man.”

Joseph said, “I just want to thank God, brother. And I love you all, guys. I couldn’t do this without you, man.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Campbell said. “Break it. Break it.”

“Family of three,” Joseph said.

“One. Two. Three,” the entire locker room said. “Family.”

A family indeed.
