Da Costa and Porsche were the fastest at the first test in Madrid

The first day of running at the Circuito de Jarama went smoothly for the GEN3 Evo machines, with Antonio Felix da Costa setting the fastest lap of the afternoon with a time of 1:29.220 minutes. He was joined in the top three by Jake Dennis in his Andretti and the DS PENSKE of Maximilian Guenther, who will be driving with the team this year.

Edoardo Mortara took his Mahindra to fourth place towards the end of the session, while Stoffel Vandoorne completed the top five in his new Maserati MSG Racing machine.

Reigning world champion Pascal Wehrlein came eighth, Andretti's new signing Nico Müller came sixth. The US-based team also announced this afternoon that Jak Crawford has joined the team as an official reserve and development driver for Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Almost the entire grid completed laps around the 3.850km venue this afternoon. However, four cars were missing as the Jaguar TCS Racing and Nissan drivers had to watch from the sidelines. Both teams were found to have committed a procedural and minor breach of Formula E's financial regulations. As a result, they were handed fines and a minor sporting penalty in the form of a half-day suspension (three hours), which was served today.

Many teams showcased their new liveries for the first time, with vibrant new looks for the Porsche Team, Kiro Race Co and LOLA Yamaha ABT to name just a few.

Testing continues tomorrow with two three-hour sessions planned.
