Country star Lainey Wilson performs at the Cowboys' Thanksgiving halftime show

Just a year after Dolly Parton made a splash with an appearance in her stunning Cowboys cheerleader outfit, another country star will take the stage on Thanksgiving.

During the Cowboys' stunning loss to the Lions, it was announced that Lainey Wilson and a mysterious special guest would be performing at the Cowboys' Thanksgiving halftime show. It will be part of the Salvation Army's famous Red Kettle Kickoff celebrations.

Wilson recently made headlines at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards held at The Star in Frisco in May.

She took home the biggest award of the night: Entertainer of the Year. The win secured what the ACM calls her “triple crown,” as she was also named 2021 Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year. On the same evening she was also named Artist of the Year for the second year in a row.

“I remember as a little girl climbing off our roof and watching the planes fly over our little town of 200,” Wilson said with tears in her eyes as she accepted her third award that evening. “I would dream of being up there on one of those planes. I still feel like that little girl.”

Now she gets to take the stage at Thanksgiving.
