Cody Rhodes and Gunther shake hands after the end of the WWE Crown Jewel Championship match

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defeated World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER to become the inaugural Men's Crown Jewel Champion in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In this match, Rhodes fought as an underdog against a dominant GUNTHER, with “The Ring General” taking down “American Nightmare” in the early stages with numerous chops, slams and suplexes. Rhodes saw two Cross Rhodes fail to keep his opponent down for the count, as well as several Cody Cutters throughout the fight. When he attempted to deliver a third Cross Rhodes, GUNTHER appeared to have won the match as he avoided both this finisher attempt and a subsequent attempt by Cody Cutter for a sleeper hold; This hold in particular had been GUNTHER's first choice throughout the match, but Rhodes had the move scouted this time as he rolled back into the winning pinfall.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque joined Rhodes in the ring, along with Women's Crown Jewel Champion Liv Morgan, as he was officially crowned Crown Jewel Champion. He and GUNTHER also shared a moment of respect as the world heavyweight champion shook hands with Saturday's undisputed champion to remain humble despite the defeat. Levesque announced ahead of Friday's event that Crown Jewel Champions Morgan and Rhodes will only retain their Crown Jewel Championship belts for the night before storing them for display at the WWE Experience in Riyadh. They are presented with their championship rings to keep, with the team being challenged to see how many rings they can collect in future years.
