The Kansas City Chiefs' difficult passing game appears to have suffered a major blow on Sunday.

Second-year wide receiver Rashee Rice is feared to have suffered a serious knee injury, likely a torn ACL, which could cause him to miss the rest of the season, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapport reported Sunday. Rice will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity.

Rice was carted to the locker room after suffering an injury in the first half of Sunday's 17-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters after the game that the team was hoping for the best, although they weren't expecting the news they wanted.

Rice went to the ground after quarterback Patrick Mahomes intercepted a pass intended for Travis Kelce and accidentally hit Rice's knee as he tried to tackle Chargers defender Kristian Fulton.

It was immediately clear that Rice had possibly suffered a serious injury, and the Chiefs quickly ruled him out after he was carted off the sideline.

Rice has emerged as Mahomes' top receiver option this young season, entering Week 4 with a team-best 24 catches, 288 yards and two touchdowns in three games. No other player on KC's roster reported double-digit earnings on Sunday.

The Chiefs still found a way to get a win as Kelce had his first big game of the season with 89 yards on seven catches and Xavier Worthy shined again, scoring with a 54-yard catch.

But even if the Chiefs are 4-0, losing Rice permanently would be a tremendous loss.
