The Indianapolis Colts offense was powered by three explosive plays in the first half – two through the air and another on the run.

As has become common practice at the beginning of this season, Anthony Richardson was able to make a pass to Alec Pierce that ultimately gave him a 44-yard gain.

This is Pierce's third pass of at least 40 yards this season. Pierce entered Week 3 with the third-most receiving yards in football. The Colts finally found themselves in a goal-to-go situation after this pass, but the drive ended with an Anthony Richardson interception.

After an interception by Colts cornerback Jaylon Jones, the Colts offense got the ball back. On the second play of the drive, Richardson ran 40 yards to tight end Kylen Granson. And on the next play, Jonathan Taylor ran the ball in from 29 yards.

At halftime, the Colts had gained a total of 167 yards on offense, 113 of those yards came from these three plays.

As we saw in the first two games, the Colts offense is capable of producing big plays, but they had trouble sustaining the attack – even today – whether through the running game or through short to medium-length passing plays.
