Anthony Edwards joins Stephen Curry in exclusive NBA club against the Mavericks

Anthony Edwards joins Stephen Curry in exclusive NBA club against the Mavericks

Anthony Edwards is looking to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to three straight wins with a win on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.

His efforts were noticeable early in the game, with a 24-point lead in the first quarter. He scored about 70% of the Wolves' points in the first quarter and knocked down 6 of his 8 three-point attempts. Not only did Edwards put Minnesota ahead with his explosive quarter, he also broke two personal records and joined an exclusive club in the process.

He became only the second player in NBA history, joining Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors in 2018, to make five or more three-pointers in four consecutive games to start a season.

Edwards scored a career-high 22 points in a quarter against the Houston Rockets last season, which was surpassed by Tuesday's performance. His six made three-pointers also surpassed his best-of-five shots, which he made six times.

The 23-year-old phenom fell short to the Mavs in the Western Conference Finals last year, meaning there could be added motivation for today's competition. Edwards is one of the NBA's fiercest competitors, even in the preseason, which doesn't have any serious implications.

He also has no problem voicing his opinion, meaning fans can expect a nice quote after the game. For example, New York Knicks fans tried to recruit Edwards and reunite him with former teammate Karl-Anthony Towns in his final appearance at Madison Square Garden.

Edwards responded to fans by saying, “If I play bad, you'll all be like, 'Booo!'”

The Mavericks stormed back into the game in the second quarter and held a two-point halftime lead while the Wolves scored 25 points. Edwards went scoreless.
