Update, 2:11 p.m. PT: The first survey data shows a great deal of dissatisfaction with the way things are going in the USA

According to CNN, about 72% said they were dissatisfied or angry with the country's development, compared to 26% who said they were excited or satisfied.

President Joe Biden's approval rating is just 41%, with 58% disapproval.

However, a large majority – 61% – said they believe America's best days lie in the future.

1:42 p.m. PT: Networks release first batch of exit poll data: The first data will soon be available on the presidential election, considered one of the most consequential in history, even if the numbers will not represent actual results.

The networks plan to release their first update at 5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT, which will provide insight into how voters feel about the state of the country, their top issues and what they expect from a candidate.

The election polls are provided by Edison Research for the National Election Pool and are conducted for a consortium of media companies including CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC. The initial data does not provide any information about who will win. These will not be released until polls close in a particular state.

The first polls close in certain counties in Indiana and Kentucky at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT.

At 7:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT, polls close in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia and parts of Florida.

At 7:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT, polls close in North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia.

At 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT, polls close in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington, DC and the remainder of Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Tennessee.

Polls close in Arkansas at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT.

At 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT, polls close in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

At 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT, polls close in Montana, Nevada and Utah.

At 11:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. PT, polls close in California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

Polls close in Hawaii at 12 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT.

Polls close in Alaska at 1 a.m. ET/10 p.m. PT.
