AC Milan – Club Brugge 3-1: Champions League victory thanks to Tijjani Reijnder’s brace

Tijjani Reijnders scored two great goals in the second half as AC Milan recovered from a slow start to overcome Club Brugge's 10 players.

The Belgian side impressed early on and only a fine save from Mike Maignan prevented Christos Tzolis from putting them in the lead.

Milan – needing a win after opening defeats to Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen – scored first when former Chelsea striker Christian Pulisic's corner went straight into the goal.

Referee Felix Zwayer sent Raphael Onyedika off the pitch after an intervention by the video assistant referee for a demanding challenge against Reijnders, so that Brugge had to compete.

The visitors still managed to equalize with a nice goal when substitute Kyriani Sabbe acted as a substitute at the end of a flowing move and shot into the far corner. The 19-year-old became only the fourth teenager to score against Milan in the Champions League.

Milan coach Paulo Fonseca's decision to recall the lively Rafael Leao was laughed at by home fans, but just seconds after the substitution, his replacement Noah Okafor scored.

Okafor skipped down the left side and hit the ball back for Reijnders to finish with a side-footed shot.

Reijnders repeated the process for Milan's third goal when he converted a cross from another substitute, Samuel Chukwueze, to seal the win.

It was time for Francesco Camarda to come on and become the youngest Italian player to ever appear in the Champions League at the age of 16 years and 226 days.
