An upper-level ridge remained over the region, bringing warm temperatures and dry conditions Saturday. This will continue into Sunday morning before a surface cold front associated with an upper level low point from the Pacific Northwest begins to move through the area Sunday afternoon.

Winds of up to 55 mph are expected along the Rocky Mountain Front and adjacent plains. Because of this, a storm warning is in effect for the Rocky Mountain Front into Liberty County from 3 p.m. to midnight on Sunday.

Windy and warm, and then a cooling down

North-central and central Montana will continue to experience near critical to critical fire weather conditions on Sunday. Expect high temperatures again tomorrow into the upper 70s to upper 80s/90s with mostly sunny skies and increasing clouds.

Frost will occur at isolated lower elevations in north-central, central and southwest Montana Monday morning. Due to the cold front, temperatures across the region will be several degrees below the seasonal average, with cool lows of 30 to 40 degrees.

Upper level flow will increase Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, increasing wind gusts up to 45 mph. It will stay dry from Monday to Wednesday.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny, then increasing clouds, then mostly clear. Highs in the 70s/80s and lows in the 30s/40s. Winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

MONDAY: Chance of morning frost. Mostly sunny then mostly clear with highs in the 50s/60s and lows in the 30s/40s. Winds of 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
